Back in the day there were two choices for gasoline for your vehicle. Today however there can be five or six at certain pumps, but a minimum of three for most. Gone are the days of leaded gasoline, but the choices that you have for unleaded become quite confusing to some.

First, most vehicles use unleaded gasoline today. We say most because some also run on E-85, which is ethanol gasoline that is corn based. Not all vehicle can burn this type of gas. However the ones that are capable of burning the E-85 are also capable of burning regular unleaded gas as well.

So when you get to the pumps you will notice that there are a minimum of three classifications for your unleaded gasoline. These will include regular unleaded, midgrade unleaded and premium unleaded, each having a mysterious number next to them. Really that mysterious number is not so mysterious after all.
